ABOUT ME

LONG STORY SHORT ...

Hey ! I'm Thibault Picquoin, the owner of this space. Nice to meet you !

I'm an independent artist, director, and animator based in Montreal, Canada, originally from Toulouse, France, born on March 18, 1997.

I graduated with a BFA from Concordia University in 2024. My art education began at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan, continued at ESMA in Toulouse, and was completed at Concordia University in Montreal.
My animation style is versatile, joyful, and multimedia. I love exploring various techniques and colors, mastering under-camera, stop motion, 2D, 3D, After Effects, and more to create an unique universe where they all coexist.

THE LONGER STORY ...

Thibault Picquoin is a filmmaker, animator, and multidisciplinary artist born on March 18, 1997, in Toulouse, the Pink City. From a young age, his daily life was shaped by morning cartoons, DVD nights, and trips to the CGR cinema—moments that deeply influenced his imagination. Growing up in a small village, he always felt that the real adventure began when the lights went out and the screen lit up. That’s when he knew that one day, he too would be part of this fantastic world. In 2018, Thibault decided to embark on a university exchange in Tokyo. Studying at Keio University proved to be a transformative experience, marked by profound personal growth and an artistic awakening. There, he took his first courses in drawing, philosophy, and art history, setting him on the path toward his true passion: cinema, and more specifically, animation.

Upon returning from Japan, he dedicated himself entirely to visual arts and animation, studying in both France and Canada. His first short film, The Clock Is Ticking, caught the attention of prestigious festivals such as the Ottawa International Animation Festival and the Fantasia International Film Festival. Continuing his exploration of a hybrid and multimedia style, Thibault draws significant inspiration from the works of Masaaki Yuasa while integrating a variety of influences from different animation movements. In May 2024, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University, where he was honored with an award recognizing the excellence of his work. His graduation film, The Mushpit, was selected for several international festivals and received multiple accolades.

Today, he continues his artistic exploration and growth alongside 4D ART, a multidisciplinary art company based in Montreal. At the same time, he pursues his career as an independent animator, already envisioning his next film.
